A healthy body and mind is an essential basic for life at The Onset.
On Friday the team here at Onset took a little look closer at our health with a very educational Be Your Own Hero afternoon event. We all enjoyed a personalised DEXA body scan and consultation with nutritionist Jo Reis from Body & Bone at Bondi Junction. (www.bodyandbone.com)
What is a DEXA scan?
As the name implies, two different energy levels of x-ray pass through your body and measure how much fat, muscle, and bone you have. A DEXA scan provides you with specific details about how much and where fat and muscle are situated on your body.
The DEXA scan measured our visceral fat to muscle ratio. This gave us all the chance to re-asses our current routines along with some expert advice from the Body and Bone nutritionist about our diet and daily habits. Some of the team have already made some big changes with their diet, and we had our best turn out at the gym this week already!
This experience was also a fantastic way for us to set ourselves a team challenge to return for another scan in 6 months time. We hope to improve our results whilst we train, and first up, prepare ourselves for the looming city 2 surf fun run we are all getting ready to run.
