A lot of the roles I work on aren’t straightforward. They sit in that grey area where job specs aren’t fully defined and the “right” person isn’t obvious. That’s where I tend to do my best work. I spend a lot of time with engineers working in event-driven environments, Kafka, streaming tech, distributed systems, so I’ve got a good feel for where things can get stuck and how to keep hiring moving without over-engineering it.
I work with both growing businesses and more established teams, helping them bring in engineers who genuinely add value. That could be an early, foundational hire or adding depth as a team scales. Most of my work sits in the modern Java space, especially around cloud-native setups, Quarkus, Micronaut, Spring Boot on Kubernetes.
I keep things straightforward. I spend time understanding how teams actually work, what they need, and what will make a real difference, then focus on finding people who fit, both technically and culturally. It’s less about volume, more about getting it right.
